BSIS 2026: Label renewal confirms MBS’s impact in Occitanie

L’impact de MBS en Occitanie, confirmé par le label BSIS 2026

What impact does MBS have on its region? It can be measured through the talent it develops, the companies it works with, the economic activity it helps generate, and its commitment to inclusion and social responsibility. The renewal of the BSIS label in 2026 provides a tangible measure of this contribution and confirms MBS impact across Occitanie.

€266.7 Million: Measuring MBS Impact on the Regional Economy

For almost 130 years, the story of MBS School of Business has been closely linked to Montpellier. Over the years, the business school has grown, expanded its international reach and strengthened its relationships with companies and stakeholders across the region.

Today, this strong local presence is reflected in the Business School Impact System (BSIS) assessment. The report estimates MBS’s total financial impact in Occitanie at €266.7 million, taking into account the school’s own activities as well as the economic benefits generated by its students and the various communities it welcomes.

This regional commitment is also reflected in MBS’s expenditure: 75% of its spending takes place in Occitanie.

With more than 3,000 students and extensive links with local businesses and stakeholders, MBS contributes to economic activity, employment and the attractiveness of the region.

But the impact of a business school cannot be measured solely in financial terms. It can also be seen in the people it educates and prepares for the future.

Developing Talent in Occitanie with a Global Outlook

Every year, students join MBS to gain knowledge and skills, acquire their first professional experience and gradually shape their future careers.

In this respect, the BSIS report highlights MBS’s academic quality, strong graduate employability, coherent programme portfolio, integration within the regional ecosystem and commitment to inclusion.

This strong presence in Occitanie goes hand in hand with an international outlook. In 2025–2026, 32.5% of MBS students are international.

This global dimension continues well beyond graduation. Today, the MBS community includes 25,000 alumni across more than 70 countries, while 4,030 MBS alumni work in Occitanie.

From Montpellier to the international stage, MBS contributes to developing talent capable of thriving in diverse professional environments while maintaining strong connections with the region where the school was founded.

Inclusion and Responsibility at the Heart of the MBS Model

MBS impact also extends to society, as highlighted by the BSIS assessment.

Inclusion, equal opportunities and social responsibility are at the heart of MBS’s mission and values. The report particularly highlights the consistency and structuring role of these policies.

Today, this commitment is reflected in the DD&RS label, MBS’s EESPIG status, the integration of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) into its programmes, research focused on societal challenges, and policies addressing the environment, climate, inclusion and equality.

From teaching to research, these commitments are increasingly embedded across all of the school’s activities and have become a defining part of the MBS identity.

Nearly 130 Years of MBS Contributing to Montpellier’s International Profile

MBS impact also extends beyond the business school itself. Through its history, students, alumni and partnerships, MBS contributes to raising the profile of Montpellier and the Occitanie region beyond their regional boundaries.

The BSIS experts’ assessment is particularly clear: “MBS has a clear impact on the region’s image.”

Its AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA triple international accreditation, its ability to attract students from around the world and its network of 25,000 alumni across more than 70 countries all contribute to increasing the visibility of Montpellier and Occitanie, both nationally and internationally.

This influence is built on almost 130 years of history in Montpellier, while continuing to evolve alongside the transformation of the school and its environment.

A New Chapter to Strengthen MBS Impact

The renewal of the BSIS label in 2026 does more than measure the progress already made. It comes at a time when MBS is entering a new phase of its development.

Through its 2026–2031 strategic plan and its signature “From Knowledge to Impact”, MBS now aims to strengthen its ability to measure, manage and demonstrate its impact.

This ambition is reflected in the development of its “school as a laboratory” model, driven by a clear objective: to transform the knowledge created and shared at MBS into tangible impact.

"The renewal of the BSIS label recognises the impact that MBS has been building for many years alongside its students, staff and partners. Our 2026–2031 strategic plan now commits us to going further by strengthening our ability to measure, manage and demonstrate this impact. This is at the heart of our ‘From Knowledge to Impact’ ambition."

Career Center Meet Ups: Exploring careers and building your professional future from year one

Sarah Fadili, Sales Operations Manager at Coopérative U, speaking to MBS students during a Career Center Meet Up

Discovering career opportunities, meeting professionals and starting to build a network from the very first year: at MBS School of Business, career development begins in the first months of the academic journey. Through the Career Center Meet Ups, Master in Management students gain first-hand insights into different professions and industries, helping them gradually shape their career plans and prepare for the job market.

Meet Ups: Turning Career Aspirations into Informed Choices

Which career path should you choose? Which industry is right for you? When students begin higher education, they rarely have all the answers — and they are not expected to.

This is precisely the purpose of the MBS Career Center Meet Ups: giving students direct access to professionals who can share insights into their day-to-day responsibilities, career journeys and the realities of their industries.

Designed to encourage open and informal discussion, these sessions allow Master in Management students to compare their aspirations with real-world experience and discover roles and sectors they may not previously have considered.

Career planning thus becomes a gradual process, shaped by conversations, experiences and professional encounters throughout their studies.

Exploring Careers in Retail with Coopérative U

For the latest Meet Up, students explored retail and its career opportunities with two professionals from Coopérative U.

MBS welcomed Sarah Fadili, Sales Operations Manager at Coopérative U, alongside Justine Néel, Recruitment and University Relations Manager at Coopérative U and a 2021 graduate of the MBS Master in Management programme.

The discussion focused in particular on the role of a buyer, the challenges facing purchasing professionals and the wide range of career opportunities available within the sector.

Sarah Fadili encouraged students to remain curious and open-minded rather than limiting themselves to a predetermined career path:

“Anything is possible. It all starts with passion and motivation. You have to believe in your goals, challenge yourself, be bold and never stop learning. The world of purchasing is vast, and there is a place for everyone.”

Her experience also highlighted a key message for students: careers are rarely linear, and continuing to learn and develop new skills can open up opportunities throughout their professional lives.

From Career Discovery to Employment Opportunities

Career Center Meet Ups are not only about discovering a profession. They also give students practical insights into internships, work-study opportunities, recruitment processes and career development.

The session with Coopérative U offered a concrete overview of the opportunities available within the group and the different career paths students can explore.

“Our aim is to showcase the wide range of careers available at Coopérative U, highlight the different career paths students can pursue and support them as they shape their professional goals,” explains Justine Néel.

These conversations also help students begin building their professional network early in their studies by connecting directly with recruiters, managers and MBS alumni.

Building Employability from the First Year at MBS

At MBS, preparing for professional life does not begin shortly before graduation. Through initiatives such as the Meet Ups, the Career Center supports students throughout their academic journey.

Exploring industries, understanding employers’ expectations, identifying key skills, meeting professionals and discovering internship and work-study opportunities all help students make more informed career choices.

By bringing the professional world directly into the student experience, the MBS Career Center gives students the opportunity to explore, question and refine their ambitions over time.

Because a career is built not only through academic learning, but also through experience and meaningful encounters, these Meet Ups help students take an active role in shaping their professional future.

MBS and SWUFE join forces to establish a new Franco-Chinese Institute in Chengdu

MBS and SWUFE join forces to establish a new Franco-Chinese Institute in Chengdu

MBS School of Business and Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE) are strengthening their academic cooperation with the creation of a Franco-Chinese Institute in Chengdu. From the start of the 2026 academic year, nearly 250 students will be able to enrol in jointly developed programmes covering strategic fields such as finance, marketing, artificial intelligence, and supply chain management. Through this initiative, the two institutions reaffirm their commitment to developing internationally oriented programmes and building lasting bridges between the French and Chinese academic ecosystems.

An ambitious academic partnership

MBS School of Business is taking a new step in its international development with the creation of a Franco-Chinese Institute in partnership with Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE), one of China’s leading universities in finance, economics, and management.

From the start of the 2026 academic year, nearly 250 students will join the various programmes offered by the Institute, which is the result of academic cooperation between the MBS and SWUFE teams. Through this initiative, the two institutions aim to strengthen academic exchanges between France and China and provide programmes that respond to the transformations taking place across economies and businesses.

The project will officially launch on 16 and 17 September 2026 on the MBS campus in Montpellier, ahead of an opening ceremony to be held on 13 October 2026 in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province and one of China’s most dynamic metropolitan areas.

An alliance between two renowned institutions

Based in Chengdu, Southwestern University of Finance and Economics has built a strong academic reputation in China and internationally. The university educates tens of thousands of students each year and is recognised for its expertise in finance, economics, and management.

Its location at the heart of Chengdu is also a major asset for this new partnership. A dynamic economic, technological, and entrepreneurial hub, the city provides a favourable environment for developing new collaborations between higher education institutions, businesses, and local communities.

SWUFE also holds the prestigious EQUIS and AACSB international accreditations, reflecting the quality of its academic model and its international reach.

This cooperation is therefore built on the complementary expertise of two institutions that share a common ambition: preparing tomorrow’s talent to thrive in constantly evolving economic environments and an increasingly demanding international context.

Programmes addressing the challenges of economic transformation

From the start of the 2026 academic year, the Franco-Chinese Institute will welcome nearly 250 students across several programmes jointly designed by the academic teams at MBS and SWUFE.

Teaching will focus in particular on four strategic areas for businesses and organisations:

  • Finance
  • Marketing
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Supply Chain and International Logistics

These programmes will enable students to develop skills that meet the needs of businesses in a globalised environment and to enhance their qualifications through recognised professional certifications.

MBS faculty members will work alongside their SWUFE counterparts to encourage the sharing of expertise, intercultural approaches, and the internationalisation of the programmes.

A shared vision for higher education

For Mohamed Afennich, General Director of MBS:

“The creation of this Franco-Chinese Institute with Southwestern University of Finance and Economics marks a major milestone in MBS’s international development. Beyond being a simple academic partnership, this project reflects our commitment to building lasting cooperation with institutions of excellence that share our values of openness, innovation, and academic rigour. By combining the expertise of MBS and SWUFE, we are creating a unique learning environment that enables students to develop high-value skills in an international context.”

He adds:

“In the face of the major economic, technological, and societal transformations reshaping the world, educating future decision-makers requires closer cooperation between higher education institutions more than ever. This Franco-Chinese Institute fully embodies this ambition and will contribute to building lasting connections between the French and Chinese academic ecosystems.”

Further recognition of MBS’s international reach

This partnership also reflects MBS’s international development strategy, which is based on building long-term academic partnerships with institutions recognised for their excellence, innovative capacity, and global outlook.

For André Deljarry, President of MBS:

“We are particularly proud to partner with Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, a university recognised for the excellence of its programmes, the quality of its research, and its international reputation. This partnership reflects the trust placed in MBS and our ability to forge strategic alliances with leading institutions around the world.”

He continues:

“Located in Chengdu, one of China’s most innovative and attractive metropolitan areas, SWUFE offers an exceptional environment for developing high-value academic cooperation. Through this Franco-Chinese Institute, we are helping to build lasting bridges between the talent, businesses, and communities of our two countries.”

A new chapter in Franco-Chinese academic relations

Through the creation of this Franco-Chinese Institute, MBS and SWUFE reaffirm their shared commitment to academic excellence, international openness, and the development of the skills needed for the economies of tomorrow.

This cooperation also demonstrates the ability of higher education institutions to bring cultures closer together, facilitate the mobility of knowledge, and support business transformation on a global scale.

The official ceremony to be held on 13 October 2026 in Chengdu will mark the launch of this new academic and human journey, which is set to grow in the years ahead for the benefit of students, socio-economic partners, and both institutions.

Its Master in Management programme ranks 60th worldwide (joint), 11th among ranked French Master in Management programmes and joint 1st in the South of France.
This recognition highlights the strength of the MBS model and its growing reputation in France and internationally.

In an increasingly competitive global environment, marked by the rise of several Asian institutions, particularly Indian business schools, MBS confirms its position on the international business education landscape.

What Is the Financial Times Masters in Management Ranking?

Published annually by the Financial Times, the Masters in Management ranking compares leading management programmes offered by business schools around the world.

To compile the ranking, the Financial Times assesses a range of criteria related to graduates’ experiences and career outcomes, including:

- Career progression and employability;
- Return on investment;
- Student experience;
- International exposure among students and faculty;
- Academic quality;
- Integration of sustainability and social responsibility.

The ranking is therefore a key international benchmark for assessing how effectively business schools prepare graduates to succeed in a demanding, international and constantly evolving professional environment.

Why Does the MBS Master in Management Stand Out in 2026?

Strong Return on Investment

With a weighted salary of $73K three years after graduation, MBS is recognised for the professional value of its degree.

Work-study opportunities are another major strength of the MBS model. They enable students to gain significant professional experience alongside their academic studies. Under a French apprenticeship contract, students can also have their tuition fees covered by their employer.

A Strong International Outlook

International exposure is at the heart of the MBS Master in Management programme.

Study-abroad opportunities, double degrees, courses taught in English, international internships and a diverse community of international students and faculty enable students to build a truly global academic and professional profile, aligned with the expectations of international employers.

Employability at the Heart of the Student Experience

Graduate employability is one of the programme’s key strengths highlighted by the ranking.

Throughout their studies, students gain professional experience through internships and work-study programmes, while benefiting from the support and services provided by the MBS Career Center.

This approach creates strong connections between academic learning, skills development and preparation for the job market.

Sustainability Embedded in the Curriculum

The Financial Times ranking also considers how sustainability and social responsibility are integrated into business school curricula. This dimension is fully aligned with MBS’s ambition: to educate managers who can incorporate environmental and societal challenges into their decision-making and contribute to the transformation of organisations and the economy.

MBS Ranks Joint 1st in the South of France

With this latest result, MBS ranks joint 1st among Master in Management programmes in the South of France included in the Financial Times Masters in Management 2026 ranking.

Based in Montpellier, in the heart of the Occitanie region, MBS is strengthening its position as a leading business school in the South of France while continuing to expand its national and international reach.

For students choosing MBS School of Business, this international recognition provides an additional indicator of the value and visibility of its Master in Management programme, both in France and abroad.

Recognition of the MBS Model

André Deljarry, President of MBS, said:
“In an increasingly competitive global environment, MBS’s continued presence in the Financial Times ranking is a strong sign of our international recognition. This performance reflects the strength of our model, built on academic excellence, international exposure, work-study opportunities and our commitment to a more responsible economy.”

This latest edition of the ranking further reinforces the core strengths of the MBS model: academic excellence, employability, internationalisation, work-study opportunities and responsibility.

MBS continues to build on this momentum, with the ambition of creating even greater value for its students, graduates and partners.

Future for Good: MBS Students Dive into Impact Entrepreneurship in Warsaw

Future for Good: MBS Students Dive into Impact Entrepreneurship in Warsaw

How can entrepreneurship help address the major social and environmental challenges of tomorrow? This is the question explored by around twenty second-year students from the MBS Grande École Program during an immersive week in Warsaw, Poland. Bringing together more than 100 participants from across Europe as part of the Blended Intensive Program (BIP), the experience gave students the opportunity to develop social business projects, collaborate in international teams, and discover new approaches to impact-driven innovation.

Collaborating Across Europe on Impact Projects

Throughout the week, participants worked in multicultural teams to design social business projects aimed at tackling today’s social and environmental challenges.

From idea generation to pitch deck development, students created innovative solutions while strengthening their skills in project management, creativity, communication, and teamwork. It was a unique opportunity to exchange ideas and perspectives with peers from across Europe and gain valuable insights into different approaches to entrepreneurship and innovation.

An Immersive Learning Experience

The program embraced a hands-on, experiential learning approach, combining case studies, team challenges, company visits, and meetings with professionals working in the impact economy.

One of the highlights of the week was the Warsaw Video Challenge, which encouraged participants to take on a creative assignment while discovering the Polish capital from a fresh perspective. These activities fostered collaboration, cultural openness, and learning by doing—key elements of MBS’s international educational approach.

Exploring the Businesses of Tomorrow

Through conferences, workshops, and discussions with experts, students explored the key issues surrounding responsible entrepreneurship and social innovation.

This immersive experience helped them gain a deeper understanding of how businesses can combine economic performance with positive impact, while developing more sustainable models that contribute to society.

A Memorable International and Human Experience

Beyond the academic learning, this week in Warsaw will remain a defining personal and international experience for MBS students. Working alongside participants from different countries, sharing experiences, and co-creating innovative solutions provided invaluable opportunities for growth and learning.

MBS would like to thank Kozminski University for its warm welcome and the outstanding organization of the program, as well as the school’s International Office teams whose support made this experience possible.

This initiative is yet another example of MBS’s commitment to international openness, innovative teaching methods, and the development of future leaders capable of making a positive impact on the world around them.

MBS Alumni Day 2026: A landmark 20th Edition Celebrating the Power of Giving Back

MBS Alumni Day 2026: A landmark 20th Edition Celebrating the Power of Giving Back

Last Friday, the MBS School of Business campus came alive for the 20th edition of the MBS Alumni Day. Over 1,150 students, 120 alumni, 30 talks and 20 companies mobilised: an extraordinary day built around exchange, transmission and connection.

A Powerful Opening Keynote to Set the Tone

The day kicked off with an opening keynote introduced by Thibaut Rochette, President of MBS Alumni, and Eric Le Deley, Deputy Academic Director General of MBS, and hosted by Maryne Avril and Loïc Sitbon, both PGE 2019 graduates. Three outstanding alumni took the stage to address a defining question: how do we guide the next generation in a world undergoing profound transformation — economic, technological and geopolitical?

Marie Aussant, Bachelor 2010, now at Lacoste, Jamil Tadili Fariss, PGE 2010, founder of JAD PARTNERS, and Frédéric Collet, PGE 1996, Partner at KPMG, shared their insights, convictions and experiences with refreshing honesty and generosity — setting the tone for a day defined by authenticity.

30 Talks, 800 Connections: Real, Unfiltered Conversations

Throughout the day, our students had the opportunity to take part in over 30 themed talks led by MBS alumni. Straight-talking, hands-on discussions covering career paths, professional choices, opportunities — and the realities of the working world. No polished speeches, just genuine experiences that help our students better understand and prepare for the professional landscape ahead.

In total, over 800 connections were made in the course of a single day — each one a new piece of advice, a fresh perspective, or the start of a meaningful professional relationship.

Over 20 Companies on Campus to Recruit and Connect

The MBS Alumni Day is also a prime opportunity to connect with the business world. This year, more than 20 partner companies made the trip to campus to meet our students, share insights about their industries and explore recruitment opportunities: Africa Global Logistics, Altémed, CDC Habitat, Conceptole Industrie, Coopérative U, Deloitte, DYNEFF, Fortil, French Property Consulting, Gemmaris, Lidl France, Groupe Nicollin, Oracle, Orchestra, PwC, UFF – Wealth Management Advisory, and VINCI Facilities Building Solutions.

Their presence is a testament to the trust these organisations place in MBS-trained profiles and to the school’s growing appeal in the recruitment market.

The MBS Community: A Lasting Force

What truly makes the MBS Alumni Day special, beyond the numbers, is the spirit that drives it: a tight-knit, committed and generous community. Our alumni never really leave — they come back, they share, they inspire.

A heartfelt thank you to each and every one of them for their presence, their dedication and their desire to give back. This is where it all begins.
