Just days before hosting the 5th edition of the Sustainable Development Meetings, MBS moved up to secure a spot in the top 10 of the ChangeNOW / Les Echos Rankings. This recognition cements MBS’s position as one of France’s most committed business schools in the ecological and social transition.
With a score of 122 out of 150, MBS stands out for embedding corporate social responsibility (CSR) into its programs, fostering social inclusion through a strong emphasis on apprenticeship opportunities and financial aid, and advancing action-oriented research to place sustainability and inclusion at the heart of its mission.
Improved performance driven by a 360° sustainability strategy
Scoring 122 points overall, MBS has integrated CSR and sustainability across its mandatory curriculum, ensuring all students gain essential skills for the careers of tomorrow. Initiatives include the fourth edition of the ODD Challenge Hackathon, equipping students with key competencies, and the continuous enhancement of the core curriculum with new specialized electives developed by the IMPACTS research center.
The school’s strategic commitment to CSR and exemplary sustainability practices were also evaluated by Les Echos, with a recent 2024 Greenhouse Gas Emissions Report (BEGES) showcasing its focus on energy efficiency, sustainable mobility, and responsible food sourcing.
A longstanding advocate for diversity and equal opportunity, MBS has led the way in work-study programs as a means of social accessibility. This commitment is complemented by tailored financial aid systems, including international scholarships, on-campus student jobs, and disability support.
MBS’s performance is further strengthened by its student associations, which actively contribute to social change through projects aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Today, five student organizations are fully dedicated to one or more of these global goals, reinforcing students’ roles as societal changemakers.
MBS is among the 60 institutions evaluated in this ranking, including 28 business schools and 32 engineering schools, reflecting its capacity to train managers equipped with a deep understanding of sustainability issues.
MBS: Committed to Sustainability at Every Level
In addition to its academic focus, MBS has this year enhanced its signature Act for Change program to prepare students for leadership in sustainability. This newly structured curriculum includes a 45-hour core module, incorporating the three key elements that have contributed to its success: “Imagine,” to spark engagement and envision possibilities; “Connect,” to build consensus and lead actionable initiatives; and “Inspire,” to develop leadership skills and showcase impactful projects. The program also introduces a Summer School, offering an additional 24-30 hours of learning on leadership, self-awareness, coaching, and personalized mentoring.
MBS’s dedication extends to professional development, with certification programs like “CSR Officer,” which has attracted participants from diverse sectors committed to social responsibility.
Research at MBS also plays a vital role in this commitment. A recent example is the MIND Chair’s pioneering partnership with the Nicollin Group under the EU’s new CSRD directive. This collaboration aims to adapt non-financial reporting practices, providing companies with a practical framework for ecological transition.
Through these initiatives, MBS reinforces its position as a leading institution that cultivates forward-thinking, socially conscious leaders prepared to address tomorrow’s environmental and societal challenges.
