With over 12 years of experience teaching English to a wide range of learners, Elaine Balzergue is deeply committed to fostering student growth, confidence, and communication skills in the English language. Teaching is not only her profession, but a vocation and enduring passion.
Elaine holds a degree in English Literature and Sociology, as well as a Higher Diploma in Youth and Community Development. After a formative five-month teaching experience in India, she obtained the CELTA qualification to pursue a career in English language instruction. Her professional background also includes extensive work in informal education and youth development, with experience in both school-based and outreach programmes.
Over the past decade, Elaine has gained substantial experience teaching individual learners, small groups, and large classes. While most of their teaching has been face-to-face, she also has several years of experience delivering English lessons online and by telephone.
For the past nine years, Elaine has been a full-time permanent teacher for MBS, where she has taught for a total of eleven years across both the Bachelor and Master programmes. In addition to teaching, Elaine has served as head of courses for several Master-level programmes (PGE1A, PGE2A, and PGE2C), with responsibilities including curriculum design, syllabus preparation, e-learning development, teaching material creation, and the management of external teaching staff—ensuring alignment with MBS's pedagogical goals and student learning outcomes.
Elaine also taught for four years at EPF Engineering School and has worked as a freelance language trainer with corporate clients such as IBM, SNCF, Miele, Fund Channel, and Banque de Luxembourg, among others.
Believing that language learning requires not only effort and time but also courage, Elaine is dedicated to creating a supportive learning environment where students feel confident to express themselves freely and overcome their apprehensions about speaking English.
