The CGE accreditation of the MBS "Master of Science in Digital Transformation" program is renewed for three years

The CGE accreditation of the MBS "Master of Science in Digital Transformation" program is renewed for three years

On April 8, MBS obtained the renewal of its AACSB accreditation for 5 years, perpetuating its membership in the prestigious circle of the 1% of business schools in the world that hold the triple crown.

This international attractiveness is confirmed again today with a new label renewal: the CGE (Conférence des Grandes Ecoles) accreditation awarded to the MBS Master of Science (MSc) in Digital Transformation program, for 3 additional years.

The report of the audit, carried out in April 2021, praises the good integration of the graduates of the MSc “Digital Transformation” of MBS and the implementation of an active pedagogy with many practical cases. Moreover In particular, it highlights the quality of the group projects such as consulting (Strat me up) and company creation (Entrepreneurial Project), which are very formative and professionalizing.
The opportunity to put learning into practice and to confront the diversity of professional profiles was seen as an advantage too.
The auditors were also sensitive to the quality of the digital resources made available to both students and teachers in order to shadow them in the digital transition.

We are very pleased with this renewal, especially since the Master of Science® CGE label makes it easier for our foreign students to obtain visas.

Mathieu Ravard, a 2015 MBS alumni, co-founded GreenGo, a French and responsible alternative to Booking & Airbnb

Mathieu Ravard, a 2015 MBS alumni, co-founded GreenGo, a French and responsible alternative to Booking & Airbnb

From April 12 to 16, MBS is holding its Sustainable Development Week. We therefore take this opportunity to shine the spotlight on the careers of alumni who are committed to this noble cause.

Graduated from the MBS Grande Ecole Program and having lived several experiences abroad, Mathieu Ravard shares with us his path towards a more local and sustainable project.

Shocked by the figures of global warming and by his “carbon footprint”, he became aware of the stakes of the environmental issue and quickly understood the urgent need to come up with a more responsible, more equitable and more humane model of tourism.

He co-founded GreenGo with three friends, with the ambition of making it a more sustainable alternative to the behemoths Airbnb and Booking. The start-up has launched a crowdfunding campaign that has now reached 350% of its initial goal! GreenGo is now looking to find new accommodations throughout France.

Behind the scenes of this entrepreneurial adventure

Mathieu joined Montpellier Business School in 2011 and decided to take advantage of the international experience of the program. “I went to Latin America in my second year and then spent my last year in a work-study configuration between Amsterdam and Paris. After graduation, I joined American Express in Paris and was then sent to Sydney, Australia, for two years. “explains Mathieu.

” Following these various experiences, I understood what I was looking for: a more meaningful project, closer to my values and my convictions, specifically regarding the environmental issue. During this time, my good friend Guillaume has been sharing with me his knowledge on the impact of distant tourism and the concrete effects of global warming. The estimation of my carbon quota made me understand the extent of the damage. There is a real need to travel closer to home, to travel better.

With two other engineer friends, we decided to drop everything to take action and start an entrepreneurial mission to help travellers experience more sustainable local tourism,” says the co-founder.

A model that promotes local, responsible and ethical practices

“Worldwide tourism accounted for 8% of global greenhouse gas emissions from 2009 to 2013, making the sector a bigger polluter than the construction industry. Transport associated with tourism is responsible for 75% of this pollution. For a long time, we thought we had to go as far away as possible to get a change of scenery, whereas in reality, it is possible to have an extraordinary experience without crossing the planet, in the Mercantour Park or in the Bay of the Somme, for example. This is what we have based our promise on: to find the finest accommodation all over France with friendly, welcoming and eco-friendly hosts. “

In addition to the environmental dimension, we want to make our contribution to the economic and social transition. “The implementation of a fairer commission system is an obvious choice for us. The commission fees charged by the large American companies represent 18% of the price of the reservation, both for the hosts and for the travellers. For us, it is necessary to reduce this commission to 10% in order to take a fairer approach and offer a fairer remuneration to the host and a reasonable price to the traveller while paying our taxes in France. ” says the graduate.

What are the next steps?

The start-up is currently running a crowdfunding campaign which has already reached 350% of its target. It remains open until 30 April. “The aim of this campaign is to finance the growth of our network of hosts, which we select individually by analysing the quality of experience, in particular the price-quality ratio, the hosts’ respect for the environment and the overall quality of the welcome.

With 130 hosts and more than 350 accommodations, we do not yet have the entire country covered. The objective of the campaign is to offer a selection of at least 5 quality accommodations per department. “concludes Mathieu Ravard.

So that other students and alumni can become actors of the ecological transition, MBS is currently holding the ODD Challenge during which they are trained to solve concrete problems related to sustainable development in Occitania. See you on April 16th for the grand finale, sponsored by Romain Troublé, Managing Director of the Tara Ocean Foundation.

Work-study programs and first job: the MBS Career Center unveils its action plan to boost employability in times of crisis

Work-study programs and first job: the MBS Career Center unveils its action plan to boost employability in times of crisis

The MBS Career Center provides professional guidance to 1,491 young people on work-study programmes. Our objective is twofold: personalised coaching to help students build a professional project in line with their soft skills and ambitions, but also to facilitate meetings between students and companies.

Two key events for the professionalization of students will take place in a few days: the “JobDating Alternance”, which will have a record number of participants this year, with 78 companies and more than 500 offers; and the digital seminar “My Job Booster”, to help soon-to-be-graduated students in their job search in times of crisis.

78 companies take part in the MBS “JobDating Alternance” on April 12th and 13th

With the aim of maximising the points of contact between students and companies, the Career Center is once again organising the “JobDating Alternance”, its flagship event for students looking for apprenticeship contracts.

“Facing the economic crisis and the risk that now weighs on recruitment, the Career Center will organise several sessions of JobDating this year. At the beginning of March, a first edition dedicated to the search for internships helped students meet 33 companies that presented more than 130 internship offers. The “JobDating Alternance” will take place on April 12th and 13th, with 76 companies providing more than 500 recruitment offers to young people who will soon be following work-study programs,” explains Laurence Flinois, Director of the Career Center. “A second edition will be organised this summer, to accompany the new students. “

These events play a decisive role in the professionalization of MBS students. They complement a weekly programme of meetings and discoveries of companies. “The ‘Work Me Up’ seminar, the “Coffee Meet-Ups” and the “1 Day 1 Company” show our students the daily life, the jobs and the careers of professionals in various formats. Students can use these testimonials to build their career plans. “Amandine Bourdette, Career Consultant, adds.

We would like to thank the 78 companies that took part in the work-study programs JobDating on April 12th and 13th:

“My Job Booster”: 28 workshops and 16 master classes to help final year students find a job

In partnership with “Pimp My Career”, the Career Center is offering a new personalised programme for future graduates on April 6th and 12th. “Students will be able to put together their own

tailor-made programme and choose from 28 workshops and 16 master classes to prepare for the job market. “explains Sandrine Mayonove, Career Consultant.

After an introductory conference that will present an overview of the job market in France, students will be able to choose from several interactive workshops such as: “Negotiating your salary”, “Discovering new recruitment methods”, “Saving time in your job search”, “Where to find companies that are recruiting? “, “Developing your network during the Covid period” and ” The best techniques for applying abroad. “

To further adapt to this particular context of health crisis, the workshops have been designed to rebuild the students’ confidence and enable them to improve the management of their emotions and their resilience.

At the same time, the Career Center is also preparing a specific edition of the “JobDating”, entitled “First Job”, on June 28th and 29th, to promote recruitment during the health crisis.

Another way to promote student employment is the partnership between the MBS Alumni Association and the company Swile, which a few weeks ago offered the school’s graduates 50 permanent positions based in Montpellier. “The solidarity of the network is crucial to ensure that young graduates do not become the primary victims of the economic crisis” explains Pierre-Emile Ramauger, Director of Development and Corporate Relations.

Professional inclusion: more mentoring for scholarship students who may lack a professional network

In partnership with MBS’s CSR department, the Career Center is now working with “Article 1” to provide enhanced mentoring for scholarship students seeking work-study programs. “These students did not necessarily have the chance to build a professional network before their studies. This mentoring programme, which complements the activities of the Career Center, comes into play at a key moment in the student’s life to help him or her better understand the codes of the job market and be in close contact with a company mentor. “explains Laurence Flinois. This programme, which aims to boost employability and professional inclusion, will be offered to around one hundred MBS students.

By welcoming 55% of “ERCS” (Students Meeting Social Criteria), MBS intends to multiply this type of measures to ensure that the financial barrier is not an obstacle to access to Grandes Ecoles. In the face of the health crisis which weakens students on the economic level, the support of companies is more necessary than ever. It is still possible to support MBS and its actions for social openness by paying the apprenticeship tax until May 31st.

SDG Challenge | 600 MBS students work together to solve real issues of sustainable development in Occitanie.

SDG Challenge | 600 MBS students work together to solve real issues of sustainable development in Occitanie.

From March 31st 2021, 600 students from the Bachelor and Grande Ecole programs of MBS will be trained to meet the challenges of economic, ecological and societal transition in order to achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the United Nations.

Hackathon, The Climate Collage, business plan… Sponsored this year by Romain Troublé, the SDG Challenge* will lead MBS’ students to present their solutions to the problems of the Occitanie territory in front of a jury of transition experts who will elect the three best projects on April 16th.

The SDG Challenge is the first building block of a deeper reform of the MBS Programmes for the ecological and societal transition.

In line with its 2020 – 2025 strategic plan, MBS is preparing a reform of its programmes in order to strengthen the teaching linked to the societal and environmental transition through research and its Sustainability Lab.

In terms of pedagogy, this commitment is materialised by the organisation of the first MBS SDG Challenge Hackathon, led by Dr Helen Etchanchu, holder of the COAST Chair, and built in partnership with the association “I love Planet” and “The Climate Collage“.

“The SDG Challenge is a three-day seminar where students will be introduced to The Climate Collage in order to understand the systemic issues of sustainable transformation and the scope of the solutions to be implemented. “explains Dr. Helen Etchanchu.

“In parallel, this course will be the subject of a major action research project with the COAST Chair to measure and improve the impact of the workshops on the participants’ environmental attitudes and actions, in a process of continuous improvement of the training. “says the teacher-researcher.

Working on concrete sustainable development issues in Occitania

Once the issues have been assimilated, the participants will move on to the practical phase and will have to propose an organisational solution through a business plan for each team, in order to solve a concrete problem raised by stakeholders in the Occitanie region in connection with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.

These Sustainable Development Goals or SDGs were adopted in September 2015 by 193 countries at the United Nations. They aim to transform societies by eradicating poverty and ensuring a fair transition to sustainable development by 2030.

“How to reduce fossil fuel consumption? How to adapt coastal tourism to global environmental challenges? The MBS students will have to show their creativity and CSR expertise in order to face twelve issues of the Occitanie territory. At the end of the challenge, the groups will present their solution on video to a final jury of experts. “explains Dr. Etchanchu.

Bringing together a jury of experts, the first edition is sponsored by Romain Troublé, Managing Director of the Tara Ocean Foundation

To inspire students in their search for solutions to bring about change, MBS has invited a large number of committed environmental, associative and economic figures to participate.

Among them, the sponsor of this edition and also President of the jury: Romain Troublé, Managing Director of the Tara Ocean Foundation. This professional sailor is developing with this foundation a science based on the ocean in order to better anticipate climate risks and respond to the UN’s Agenda 2030.

Distinguished professionals will also participate to inspire and evaluate the students: Jean-Louis Cazaubon, President of IRQUALIM, Olivier Gruie, Co-founder of EcoWise, Benjamin Clouet, Director of Ecosec, Benoit Yameundjeu, Managing Director of Smoove, Denis Terrien, CEO Salesforce Europe, Laurent Esposito, Managing Director of the Climate Collage, Dr Adrien Jahier, communication consultant, Thomas André, Founder of Dynveo and 2013 alumni, Baptiste Gapenne, founder of Impact(s), Edouard Bergeon, director and journalist at cultivonsnousTV, Marie Thérèse Mercier, Vice-President of the Occitanie Region and Kelvine Gouvernayre, head of communication at IRQUALIM.

The Bachelor Programme hackathon will take place from 31 March to 2 April 2021, and will be followed by the Grande Ecole Programme hackathon from 7 to 9 April 2021. The Grand Final will take place on April 16 and will reward the 3 best projects according to the jury of experts. A 4th project may also win the public prize depending on the number of votes the video receives. See you on 16 April 2021 to discover the winners!

Solidarity action: Gaia association creates a student survival box and obtains a grant from the Auchan Foundation

Solidarity action: Gaia association creates a student survival box and obtains a grant from the Auchan Foundation

The Auchan Retail Foundation prize

As a major partner (Grand Partner) of MBS, Auchan Retail and its youth foundation organise an annual award to support student associations that help young people in difficulty.

Member of the REFEDD network (French Student Network for Sustainable Development), the Gaia association of MBS is very involved in sustainable development, notably with its participation in the Student COP 2. This year, the association also took part in the Auchan Retail Foundation’s prize committee with a solidarity project which aims to address the impact of the health crisis on the daily lives of students.

A solidarity box for students living in precarious conditions

Led by Klervie Jardel, Vincent Daigny-Pradalier and Iris Cassagne, all members of the association, the project is to create a student survival box. “Following the health crisis, the number of student jobs has considerably dropped. The association therefore thought about a system that would allow students to eat healthily at a low price. “explains Louise Tastard, President of the association.

More concretely, the project aims to produce 50 boxes for €2 for students during the next 10 months of classes and to establish a real momentum of solidarity.

“The inspiration comes directly from military survival boxes. The idea is to provide students with an emergency box in case they have a hard time at the end of the month, with mainly canned goods and long-lasting food. The box will also contain some unsold fresh food and some recipes developed in partnership with the MBS culinary association ‘La Sauce’,” explains the trio.

A €8,000 grant

Auchan Retail has decided to support this ambitious project. A grant of €8,000 has been allocated to produce solidarity boxes over the next 10 months of classes. “We had a first meeting with the director of Auchan Pérols to determine the costs. The project manager will also put us in touch with the Malbosc shop and social organisations in order to make the project last”, conclude the students.

Gaia and the student association “Mon Bureau Solidaire” (formerly “Sup de Cœur”) delivered the first box on April 14th 2021.

MBS is awarded AACSB accreditation again for the maximum duration of 5 years

MBS is awarded AACSB accreditation again for the maximum duration of 5 years

MBS has again obtained the AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) accreditation for a maximum of 5 years. This international distinction is a recognized guarantee of excellence. It is held by only 25 schools in France. The school thus confirms its membership of the prestigious circle of the 1% of business schools in the world that are triple accredited (AACSB, EQUIS*, AMBA**).

International recognition of diplomas

AACSB accredits universities and Grandes Ecoles worldwide according to rigorous standards that evaluate the school’s governance and strategy, the impact of its research and the quality of its teaching staff, and the relevance of its training programmes to business needs.

The audit also highlights the school’s commitment to society and its impact. The AACSB auditors thus recommended

– the very strong impact of MBS’s investment in social inclusion (scholarships, solidarity funds, apprenticeship programmes) and its contribution to the quality and diversity of its student body

– the relevance and ambition of its 2020-2025 strategic project and the support and commitment of all the school’s stakeholders in its construction

– the quality of the school’s response to the health crisis, with pedagogical continuity and a transition to co-modal teaching.

“MBS is proud to be re-accredited for the maximum possible duration. It is a mark of the confidence of the auditors in our strategy to take MBS even higher, by relying on the values that make our Grande Ecole attractive and our identity”, says André Deljarry, President of Montpellier Business School.

For all MBS stakeholders, the AACSB re-accreditation confirms the international recognition of its degrees and attests to the academic and pedagogical standards of the institution in order to continue to attract the best researchers, teachers and students.

The accreditation applies to all MBS programmes delivered on the Montpellier campus: Bachelor (BAC+3), Grande Ecole Programme (BAC+5), Masters of Science (BAC+5), Executive MBA and DBA programmes.

Accreditations, labels and charters

In addition to the triple crown, the school holds several labels that validate its commitment to society. MBS was the first management school to obtain the Diversity Label (AFNOR) in 2009 and the only major management school to hold both the Diversity and Gender Equality Labels since 2017. MBS has also received the status of EESPIG from the French State, which validates the school’s non-profit activities.

MBS has also signed various charters such as the United Nations Global Compact for Human Rights, Labour Rights, the Environment and the Fight against Corruption; the Charter for Diversity in Business; the Autre Cercle’s LGBT Charter for an Inclusive Environment; and the United Nations PRME.

Discover the first pictures of the MBS forest

Discover the first pictures of the MBS forest

Last fall, MBS joined forces with Reforest’Action to allow each student and employee to virtually plant a tree. Today it is concrete and we are pleased to inform you that the MBS forest is born!

A forest of 4000 trees, nestled in the heart of the Haut Languedoc regional nature park, in Lamontélarié (about 2 hours from Montpellier), with the aim of reforesting 17 hectares where the old spruce stand was attacked by bark beetles as well as by strong gales. To prevent this pest from spreading, new species (Douglas fir and larch, diversified with beech), better adapted to the site, were planted.

Eco-benefits generated by the MBS forest :

– 600 tons of CO2 stored

– 12,000 animal shelters created

– 16,000 months of oxygen production

– 4000 hours of work created

The whole MBS community is committed, through these 4000 trees planted, to act concretely against the climate emergency and for the protection of biodiversity.

How to integrate sustainable development at the heart of the company's activity? Thomas André, founder of Dynveo, alumni and winner of the "Young Innovative and Responsible Company" award in 2013, explains

How to integrate sustainable development at the heart of the company's activity? Thomas André, founder of Dynveo, alumni and winner of the "Young Innovative and Responsible Company" award in 2013, explains

What is the “Young Innovative and Responsible Company” Award?

In this complex context for entrepreneurs and SMEs, MBS renews its commitment to support these companies in their development and transition. Each year, the Montpellier Business School Foundation for Equal Opportunities organises the “Young Innovative and Responsible Company” Award to financially support a start-up with a positive societal and/or environmental impact.

Our goal is to support MBS entrepreneurs who are committed to a more sustainable world.

Aimed at MBS student entrepreneurs and graduates of less than three years, the ” Young Innovative and Responsible Company ” Prize assesses the financial realism, the quality of the business plan, the innovative dimension and the promotion of openness, responsibility and global performance of the project.

In 2013, the prize was won by Thomas André, with the company that has now become Dynveo, a laboratory of organic food supplements without excipients or additives, marketed in 100% compostable bottles.

Thomas is true to his convictions and places health and respect for the environment at the heart of his business model.

Thomas’ great entrepreneurial journey began in 2010 during an internship in Ireland. “It was during this first experience that I realised that e-commerce made it easy to showcase your product while operating at lower costs. “explains the entrepreneur. “At that time, I decided to launch myself into e-commerce following this internship while I was still a student. So I chose the food supplements market. However, I soon realised that the market did not offer what I would like to consume myself. That’s how I came up with organic food supplements, without excipients or additives, that respect my environmental convictions. “Thomas adds.

After winning the award, Thomas went on to develop his company and became profitable in 2015, a pivotal year for the entrepreneur who founded a second company, Greencaps, to internalise production. “The life of an entrepreneur is long and complicated. For several years, I couldn’t earn a salary and I was on welfare (“RSA” or Revenu de Solidarité Active ). After this first year of profitability, and by dint of perseverance and most importantly hard work, I was able to achieve a turnover of

€600,000 in 2017. “

With a turnover of several million euros today, Thomas remains focused and continues to work on the ecological transition of companies. “We were among the first in France to launch 100% compostable packaging for our products. Our facilities are equipped with photovoltaic panels to achieve energy self-sufficiency and we continue to work on the extraction and control of our raw materials in order to be in a continuous improvement process and to respect our commitment to the environment and health. In the coming months, Thomas plans to expand his business and market his products in international markets and through physical outlets. Stay tuned!
