My name is Art and for the last decade I work as a c-level executive leading software engineering operations at Solvd, Inc. (USA). Due to business size, we operate with a good amount of data. I felt that joining a senior research group is the right way to go, exploring it beyond regular data science or consulting.

This is how I landed at MBS with its leading positions in management research and theoretical contribution.

I felt a very warm welcome here, despite myself being out of the academic world previously. The seminars held by Prof. C. Foropon, R. Dubey, J. Mukerjee, D. Lescop, E. Lombard and J. Gast - were the most insightful studies I’ve ever taken.

I feel my mindset has changed significantly in the way I treat information, theory, literature and research itself - and yet, I feel it’s only the beginning of the journey. This is the result of the care, experience and openness of the professors I met, and the talented group mates I’m lucky to study with.

I can recommend studying the DDBA programme at MBS to everyone who wants to experience real and challenging research, meet the brightest people in our field, and get the real business value of your research activities.

COVID prompted many people to consider and review their life and career paths. I wasn't the only one. I have worked as a marketing professional internationally for the last 20 years. However marketing has changed rapidly over the last few decades, and is now truly, a data-informed science. My ability to maintain relevance as a career professional depends on my ability to continue to learn, to work with and make sense of large scale data, and to investigate problems through statistical analysis and research design which allow me to solve problems and have a greater impact of my work.

I place great value on working internationally, and knew I wanted to attend a school that had an international ethos. The Faculty at MBS reflect the diversity and international values that I felt were critical for a meaningful, academic experience today.

My cohort is from all around the world: we convene once a month to participate in the taught portion of the program. I find the opportunity to meet, exchange ideas and learn from people based around the world to be super exciting and stimulating, even though it's a bit of a logistical challenge! The structure of the program also allows me to balance the demands of work and family in a manageable and supportive way.

I certainly look forward to completing the next few courses in the program and focussing on my research project. It will be an exciting few years ahead!

Hi, my name is Vern Campbell. I am an experienced senior leader having worked in the Manufacturing and Utility sectors in Canada.

I currently teach in both the Business and Engineering Faculties at the University of Manitoba. I also consult in the field of Leadership, strategy and operational excellence globally. I started the MBS DDBA program in October 2021.

I selected MBS based upon the quality of the program and teaching staff. The overall quality of the teaching staff and the structure of the program has greatly improved my research capability and my knowledge, which has resulted in a tremendously rewarding personal learning and development journey.

I am a first year DDBA student. Before joining this program, I have already held two research degrees, i.e., MSc from SUNY at Buffalo and MPhil from University of Cambridge.

I also obtain my MBA degree from SUNY at Buffalo. My career covers clinical pathology, biomedical science, and biotechnology R & D.

Currently, I am working as a senior R & D Project Manager. I am motivated to join the program to expand my management research capability in the area of my specialization, i.e., genomic technology. Three characteristics of this program captivate my commitment,

1) high quality of teaching from experienced researchers,
2) enthusiastic fellow students from different disciplines,
3) digital format of the courses offered in a synchronized way.

After a successful 30-year career as a senior manager in the ICT sector following a Master’s degree with a UK university I made the move to academia in 2006. With wide professional experience in many areas of business including business development, marketing, general management and operations this experience was applied marketing and management lecturing roles in various countries including the Seychelles, South Africa, India and the Middle East. After comparisons with leading business schools in the UK MBS’s Doctorate in Business Administration was chosen because of the institution’s longstanding reputation, triple AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA quality accreditations and the flexible method of delivery. What has been remarkable is the quality of the individual professors leading the taught components and their ability to effectively manage the learning environment both in terms of their own input and in facilitating learning between the student members of the class. The range of research specialisations covered by the professors encompassing both qualitative and quantitative methodologies has considerably broadened my appreciation of what is possible for research at this level. Now moving into the research phase and working with a supervisor the support and advice received has been excellent in providing direction and helpful in maintaining motivation. Also beneficial are the regular meetings with the Programme Director, Professor Dr Cyril Foropon, which should keep us on track and aware of the deadlines we need to work towards. I look forward to graduating in 2024/5.
