Short Bio

Thi Minh Ngoc Nguyen is a postdoctoral researcher at MBS School of Business since February 2024, following her PhD in Management Science from Université de Toulon in 2023. Previously, she lectured at Phan Thiet University and University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City. She also worked as a Business Development Executive at KinderWorld International Group. Nguyen holds a Master's degree in Finance from University of Economics Ho Chi Minh and a research diploma in management from Université de Lille.

Short Bio

John Dodge has been teaching English at MBS School of Business since 2020. He is the course leader for English for Business and Academic Success (BIBA) and Professional and Academic English (PGE), and teaches all years of the bachelors and masters programs.

Originally from the United States, he holds a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts from the Great Books curriculum of St. John’s College, Annapolis, Maryland. He then pursued a Master’s degree in English and Creative Writing from Trinity College Dublin.

He began teaching English as a foreign language in 2008, bringing his knowledge and a dynamic approach to the classroom. Prior to his teaching career, he gained six years of valuable experience in the fine arts industry, focusing on curation, exhibitions, and sales. This role provided him with a solid experience in the business aspects of the arts, enhancing his ability to teach English with a practical, real-world perspective.

THURIK Adriaan Roy

Short Bio

Roy Thurik is emeritus professor of Economics and Entrepreneurship at Erasmus University Rotterdam and of Entrepreneurship and Small Firms at the Free University in Amsterdam. He is professeur émérite at Montpellier Business School in France. He is a Research Fellow at two renowned Dutch research schools: the Tinbergen Institute for Economic Sciences and the Erasmus Research Institute for Management.

Roy's research focuses on the role of small firms in markets, the role of business owners in firms, industrial organisation and policy, geno-economics, nascent entrepreneurship and the consequences and causes of entrepreneurship in economies.

His research has been published in more than two hundred articles in leading international academic journals. He is (co)-editor of several scholarly books and serves on the editorial boards of many academic journals. He consulted with many firms and (international) institutions.

Roy’s courses included Small Business Economics, Economics of Entrepreneurship and Entrepreneurship and Small Business at EUR and Economics and Management of SMEs at the Free University Amsterdam. He coordinated the master’s program Entrepreneurship and Strategy Economics, the bachelor III major Entrepreneurship and Organization and the campus minor Entrepreneurship in the Modern Economy at the Erasmus School of Economics. He set up the famous Erasmus Masterclass Entrepreneurship.

DURANTON Hélène

Short Bio

Hélène Duranton is currently the Head of the Languages, Cultures and Communication Department at MBS. She is course leader for Global Business English (Bachelor), and Intercultural Communication and Management (PGE). She also teaches Professional and Academic English. She holds an MA in English from Université de la Sorbonne Nouvelle Paris III and an MLitt in English Literature from the University of Bristol, UK. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Education (EdD) at the University of Bath, UK.

With over two decades of experience in higher education in the UK and France, she previously served as French Language Director at the University of Bristol School of Modern Languages, and as Director of the SKEMA Institute for Languages and Sport, overseeing language programmes across five countries. She has also served as external examiner for French language programmes at several UK universities including Brighton, Exeter, and Sussex. Her expertise lies in intercultural communication, pedagogical innovation, and teacher training. She has led diverse teams, designed a MOOC for the University of Bristol, overseen large-scale language assessments and pioneered teaching methods using theatre to develop communication skills.

Her work has been published in The Conversation and Open Learning. Her current research interests focus on AI policy as well as teacher training for intercultural competence. She is a regular speaker at conferences and was awarded the Teaching Innovation Prize and Outstanding Achievement Prize at SKEMA. She also serves on the executive committee of UPLEGESS (Union des Professeurs de Langues des Grandes Ecoles et des Etablissement Supérieurs) where she coordinates the English teachers group.

O'SULLIVAN Niall

Short Bio

After graduating from Trinity College Dublin with a degree in French, Niall O'SULLIVAN decided to move to France to explore English language teaching and improve his fluency in French at the same time. Firstly, he taught at the University of Tours in central France. 

 Keen to continue his career in English teaching, he returned to Ireland in order to study for a Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics. He is interested in a number of areas in linguistics, particularly phonetics  and sociolinguistics.  

After graduating with his master’s, he returned to France and joined MBS School of Business. He has also taught English to Robotics and Computer Science students at Polytech Montpellier. 

Niall enjoys supporting students to improve their level of English, sharing his knowledge and tools to help them acquire a high level of fluency, something which will be invaluable to them as English becomes ever more essential in an increasingly globalised world.  

Niall is course head for English classes for BIBA1 and PGE1. He also teaches English classes in BIBA1, BIBA2, PGE1C and PGE2A.

Short Bio

Marija Roglic, a postdoctoral scholar at the COAST Chair since 2022, works on transdisciplinary research designs  for system-based Theories of Change supporting the  EU Green Deal. Her involvement extends to systems-based education for inclusive and innovative management , specifically within the EU LEADER Programme. She collaborates with professionals in the agri-food sector  and local action groups across English, French, and Croatian speaking empirical contexts .

Her research focuses on  strategic management practices and processes  within multi-stakeholder and multi-scalar organizations, emphasizing sustainability and resilience in complex systems. Utilizing action research and mixed-methods designs, she explores these themes, leveraging her interdisciplinary background in management studies, business finance, information sciences, anthropology  and philology to bridge disciplines and drive actionable research.

Her work has influenced EU policy on high-nature value farmland  and Croatian legislation on island development. In 2018 she earned the Eiffel Award  and in 2023, the Organization Studies (OS) & SAGE Student Paper Societal Impact Award.

Before entering academia, she spent five years as the executive director of a multistakeholder organization. In this role, she played a crucial part in establishing the organization as a significant force for development in southern Croatia, receiving special  recognition from LAG5’s Governing Board  during her tenure.
